I am the author of a new children's book called My Name is Bertha. This book sends a message to everyone that it does not matter what you look like on the outside, it is the kind of person that you are on the inside that makes you unique and special. I was always overweight as a kid and very klutzy. I got teased and picked on by my family and friends for the way I looked and dressed. Being overweight made it hard for me to take dancing and ice skating lessons. It even made it hard to do simple physical activities without tripping over my own two feet. In this book ten year old Bertha proves to the world that using your intelligence and wit can get you just as far as being the prettiest girl in the class or the most graceful dancer or ice skater.
